Spark Change With Creative Visions

2/24/2018

Picture
In honor of the Spark Change Summit, presented this week by Creative Visions and the Skoll Center for Social Impact Entertainment over at UCLA, we will highlight three documentaries connected to visionaries who spoke at this inspiring event.  I was honored to participate in this engaging series of panels and conversations, with such a distinguished group of industry leaders and creative activists.

The three films we will share with you today are very powerful, each with a clear call to action. Social Impact filmmaking at it’s best.  They include:  An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,  Unseen Enemy and I am Jane Doe.

Presidents Day through Cinema

2/17/2018

Welcome back to Cause Cinema, where we share the best of new social impact movies,  In less than 10 minutes, you will discover 3 new films, hear their trailers and learn where to see them.

This week, we highlight three documentaries connected to the oval office, in celebration of Presidents Day weekend.  One of the most successful docs of all time – Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 911, one of the most decorated docs – The Fog of War by Errol Morris, and we round out this week’s program with president Barack Obama, and The Final Year.

Michael Moore's political documentary Fahrenheit 911 uses humor and investigative journalism to question the Bush administration's motives for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The film argues that President George W. Bush and his inner circle used the media to advance an agenda that exploited the 9/11 attacks.  This, combined with profiteering of corporations and the work of special interest groups all point to a corrupt system.

View trailer  and you can purchanse the movie on Amazon.

Next up, we have The Fog of war – by Errol Morris, with a fabulous score by Phillip Glass – The film won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2003.
Using archival footage, United States Cabinet conversation recordings, and an interview of the then eighty-five-year-old Robert McNamara, The Fog of War depicts his life, from his birth during the First World War remembering the time American troops returned from Europe, to working as a World War II  military officer, to being the president of the Ford Motor Company's, to and finally serving as Secretary of Defense for presidents Kennedy and Johnson.

View Trailer  and you can stream the film at Amazon, Google Play, Youtube and Playstation.

We close out the weeks show, with The Final Year, a unique, insiders account of President Obama’s last year in office.  This movie is a fascinating look inside the oval office machine…almost the reality TV version of the West Wing.

View trailer and you can stream the film Vudu,  Amazon, Google Play, Youtube
